Four poems at the start of a manuscript I will be entering into a local poetry competition, July 2007. Copyright here differs slightly from other of my work, but only in that it is straight up front in being, here in Australia, that equivalent of the Creative Commons Licensing system, with sharing enabled so long as there is Attribution, it is Not-For-Profit, and No Derivative works are enabled.
Toasted
The toast got burned
I spilt my tea
Thus
The fee for writing poetry
An Electric Fact
Don’t you know
Electricity is hardly too slow
Of self alone
Accounted in the zone
Far higher than the mind
Apart from just those times
In Jesus be true
And Iblis too
Both directions of time
Is every use of
Yet hardly I either
Can yet count of
But found of
A promise known
To begin
To be able to
For in Jesus
Redemption is
And now too
Through Iblis
So no need at
Counting alone that
Electric fact
Earth Alive
Live Earth
Will first
That never again
Can accusations be made
Of those of us demanding
Our deaths will pay
For the fact of
Our electricity use
And only after that
When my body has paid the Earth
Will I pay to you what I might also
Be in debt of life to
For Earth alive
Is why any of us survive
That my mind in Allah be true
Since every elemental
By use of electricity
Our minds being demented
Has no law abidance in God’s nature
Unless you work to reduce to zero
Your own use of electricity
That the electric imagery
In your mind
If live
Is black and white
Thus enabling the real colours of life
To rain in your brain all night
Poem in a shop card
The card poem’s not the greatest
But this me old fate is
In poetry’s worth
Not to have read it first
But the picture with luck
Me pen’s not too hard up
